Bio

Are you tired of the “typical” provider, or feel someone “different or unique” would be a better fit for you and your mental health needs? Well then, I may be the provider for you.

I pride myself on differing from the norm. Approachable, empathetic, extremely open-minded, easy to talk to and weird are some of the ways I’ve been described in the past by previous patients.

I am particularly proud of being called “weird”.

Like a snowflake or the colors of the changing leaves in autumn, I believe every person is unique and different. I embrace and celebrate individuality. Whether it’s different lifestyles, choices in music or color of your hair (mine is ever changing), I value and respect each individual for who they are and not who society thinks they should be. I welcome those of alternative lifestyles or alternative ways of thinking, and you will find no judgment or criticism. If you embrace ideals that fall outside societies’ perception of “normal”, you can be assured that ALL are welcome here.

After teaching college for 20 years, I changed careers because I wanted an opportunity to help individuals with mental health issues who didn’t even know where to begin, felt embarrassed or that they would be judged negatively. My entire life has been spent in nurturing professions – first as a college professor and now as a therapist/prescriber. The lessons I’ve learned in both professions are what I use to drive my practice now. Excellent listening skills mixed with the ability to communicate complex concepts in an understandable way is key to my core beliefs in practice. My goal has always been to develop lasting relationships with my patients.
